Kicking off the boys basketball season, the Lancers will face St. Charles West tonight at home. After losing senior starters Luke Kreienkamp, Nick Messer and Joel Pennington last year, the team must focus in order to be successful this season.
In their first game, St. Charles West defeated St. Charles 57-43. Senior Chris Percy on St. Charles West scored 25 points, while freshman Davis Sodeberg was also a strong shooter, scoring eight.
For the Lancers, two returning junior starters, Nate Messer and Evan Scales look to use their experience in tonight’s matchup. Also looking to make an impact are seniors Kamron Emamjomeh, Shacquille Holley, and Jake Steinberg. Being their last season in a Lafayette jersey, the seniors are hoping for a successful year.
The key to the game tonight will be executing plays, shutting down top shooter Percy and rebounding effectively. After winning their first game of the season, St. Charles West will have slightly more game experience, but the Lancers’ talent and potential should make for a tough matchup.
The game begins tonight at 7 p.m. in the Lafayette front gym.
