The water polo team is 5-10 and have seen its fair share of struggles this season, but has proven that they can play with the best and still have plenty of Conference games left to make a run at it. And to show for it they are ranked 10th in the state by the coaches at mowaterpolo.com.
They have won three games in a row and one of their five wins on the year came against the Lindbergh Flyers, who are one of the best teams in the area. If they can manage to stay hot then they can make a push towards taking the conference.
“We are 5-5 in Missouri, but we are 0-5 in Illinois, so that kind of hurts our record and puts us down to 5-10,” senior Taylor McKenna said.
As far as their chances in post season play, McKenna is confident in his team, but is well aware of the competition.
“SLUH is kind of running the table. They’ve beaten every team they’ve played by at least 10 goals. They will definitely be tough to beat in District play, but we are good and have a shot at Conference,” he said.
