Being on a high school sports team can be difficult; but when that team has expectations as high as the swim and dive team at Lafayette, it can be overwhelming. Senior Alyssa Shaw is experiencing it.
Shaw helped bring Lafayette its 26th consecutive Conference title on Feb. 11. She not only has school and diving, she is also involved in the choir at Lafayette. Having talents across the board, academically, athletically and musically makes things stressful, but many students like Shaw have to learn to handle and balance it.
“It’s really hard for me to get up early for Zero Hour choir every morning, knowing that I’ll be at the school until 5:30 p.m. or so,” Shaw said.
Shaw isn’t looking to participate in either diving or singing in college, but wants to focus on the academic aspect of the next step in her life.
“I plan on going to physical therapy school and need to focus on my grades in college,” Shaw said.
