With relentless defensive pressure, the Lady Lancers raced to a 68-51 win over Marquette on Feb. 5.
It was a fast-paced contest with short possessions and fast breaks that gave the Lady Lancers an early lead which they never gave up.
The team took advantage of multiple takeaways to prevent any attempted comeback, though the Mustangs kept the score close with steady three-point shooting early on.
But another strong performance from sophomore Jordynn Martin secured the game as the Lancers doubled their lead in the second half. She led all scores with 32 points, and fellow sophomore Kayla Hall added 17 to finally put the game out of reach.
“We transitioned well, finished well and had good ball movement. Anytime you win a big game like this, it’s rewarding to have all your hard work pay off,” Martin said.
