With Taylor Swift’s new song “We are never getting back together” it is clear that she is no longer the Southern Bell that first entered the music industry in 2006.
At first Swift started as a country singer with songs like “Picture to Burn” and “Our Song”. Over time her music evolved into a more pop-country, and her most recent songs are pure bubble gum-pop.
This brings many fans to ask: “Where did the old Taylor Go”. She surprised many by dying her famous honey blonde hair and cutting it shorter with bangs. Her style changed from sparkly, princess dresses to a more vintage look.
Many people look up to Swift, but how is this possible when her style is continually changing to the point where people don’t even recognize her or her music anymore. Although pop is a very mainstream genre, Swift shouldn’t change her original style just to become a more popular artist.
Lately many people have been listening to Z107.7, a station where the same pop songs are played on repeat. The iTunes top 10 and billboard top 30 have been flooded with pop songs also. Many artists have been gravitating towards pop music because that’s what many people have been listening to, it’s where the money is.
What changed Taylor, was it part of growing up? Or just a way to appeal to modern trends?
