This year, instead of having a separate Thursday Night Live and Variety Show, both were blended into a wonderful night of entertainment.
The program worked out like the original Saturday Night Live, funny skits pieced together with musical acts.
The host, Lafayette graduate Cecilia Dorhauer, hilariously started the show with the line, “Ms. Toro must have confused my awkwardness for being funny.”
Each act was written and directed by students and members of the LHS Theatre Company.
Several acts spoofed on original SNL skits, those including “Natasha”, “Penelope’s Birthday Party” and “The View,” written by Haley Reynolds, Rebecca Ferman and the Theatre 3class respectively.
I personally enjoyed each act and thought the placement of the music to be genius. Musical acts included Stan Reed, Madi Wilson York, Michael D’Errico, Lucas Shapland, Leanna Cates and Eric Deters, Natalie Litwicki and Brand New Pants.
The only thing that bothered me was the omission of the first musical act in the event program. Three students played their woodwinds to a delightful tune, but were not listed in the brochure. They deserve their recognition, even though I may not know their names.
Overall, it was a wonderful night and I was genuinely surprised by how funny LHS students can be.
