I have to say, before seeing No Strings Attachedstarring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher I wasn’t sure if the movie would be either interesting or funny simple due to the simple plot. You know, boy meets girl, boy is fascinated by girl, girl doesn’t believe in relationships, boy and girl become friends, boy and girl start falling in love, boy and girl separate, boy and girl get back together and live happily ever after.
But, I was happily surprised.
The humor was fantastic. It was interesting and clever, yet raunchy at the same time. My favorite line of the movie was, “You look like a pumpkin, B****!” The puns and pop-culture references that followed that ridiculous line made me laugh harder than I had at a movie for a long time.
Kutcher was adorable, sweet and constantly smiling. He was funny, but in a quiet way, which was one of the more interesting aspects of the film.
Natalie Portman was absolutely hysterical. After seeing Black Swan, I began to consider her as perfect for dramas, but her humor in No Strings Attached made me realize just how well rounded she is as an actress.
The soundtrack was fantastic as well. From Phoenix to The Temper Trap, the music fit every scene perfectly.
I would see this movie over and over again. It was the best laugh I have had in quite a while, and it truly is the perfect date movie.
