At the Pageant on Oct. 17, Ludo performed their last night of their tour along with three other bands that accompanied them on their tour.
Tommy and the High Pilots, from Santa Barbara, California opened the show with great energy which kept up throughout the entire show. The lead vocalist surprisingly belted much of the show, unlike the tame singing on their studio recorded albums. Their blend of rock and folk music perfectly complemented each other for a laid back feel. Band members from the Graduate and Ludo also joined the stage to do a number with the band. This was their first time performing in St. Louis, and they will be back Dec. 5 to perform at the Firebird.
Next to perform was The Graduate. Their music genre is alternative pop-rock. This band also captured the crowd with an extensive amount of energy and stage presence, not to mention great sound. The live performances were executed flawlessly, with not a beat missed or a note out of key.
Before Ludo, There For Tomorrow performed a long setlist containing tracks off their older albums, as well as new pieces such as Re:Stories, which wasn’t available for download until Oct. 19, two days after the end of their tour. The band plays an alternative-rock style and uses instruments and techniques uncommonly found in this genre. The band used dubstep during some songs, although it was used quite sparingly.
Finally, after nearly three hours of blaring music, Ludo entered the stage and opened with their hit, Go Getter Greg. Ludo has a cult following in St. Louis becuase the band originated here. St. Louis, they said, had one of the highest turnouts of all the concerts they’d played this tour. The band played some new tunes from their newest album and taught the audience the dance to their newest hit, Whipped Cream.
The last song on the set-list by Ludo was Love Me Dead. The band members form Ludo all grabbed acoustic instruments and went to the middle of the room to jam out. The audience was encouraged to sing along. And they did. Loudly and without missing a single word. The members of the other bands joined mid-way through the song with their own acoustic instruments. The atmosphere was absolutely crazy.
Finally, after Ludo was recalled to the stage for an Encore, they finished with Girls on Trampolines. The crowd went crazy with enthusiasm as all four bands rocked out to the song together on stage. The lead singer from Ludo entertained to the max up until the very last song with prescence, energy and great sound.
