Every Thursday at 9 p.m., Comedy Central hosts an hour of hilarious television.
First up is Important Things with Demetri Martin, a show in which comedian Demetri Martin tackles a wide variety of “Important Things,” such as ability, strategy, and money.
Martin’s style is very satirical, because it makes fun of average things by placing them in ridiculous situations.
The small performances are very funny and are usually a parody of something, like Sherlock Holmes playing Clue and loan sharks on bikes.
I would recommend this show to any fan of stand-up or sketch comedy.
After Important Things, The Sarah Silverman Program begins at 9:30 pm.
This show follows comedian Sarah Silverman, playing herself, through the many outlandish events in her hometown.
One of the funniest aspects of the show is that Silverman’s character is incredibly immature, because it allows the situations she gets into to get worse and worse.
Although the show uses many bathroom jokes, it still manages to provide a political message.
So far this season, issues such as sexism, gay marriage and the vulnerability of human necks have all been addressed.
The Sarah Silverman Program is a great show for anyone looking for a laugh, but be careful who you watch it with.
