Wrestling sponsors sportswear sale through weekend

Starting December 15 and ending on December 17, the Lafayette wrestling teams are selling brand name sportswear from 35-50 percent off. All the items will be displayed in the Commons.

On Friday, sales are from 3:30 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, sales will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lastly, on Sunday, Dec. 17 sales are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, baseball caps, jackets, blankets and novelty items will be on sale. Brand names include Nike, Under Armour, Reebok and Antigua, among others. There will also be Cardinals and Blues merchandise, along with college sportswear, such as Mizzou and Duke.

The proceeds will help to benefit the team in many ways.

“We have out of town trips and stuff like that’s not covered by the school district. So we have to pay for the bus and hotels and food,” Head Coach Jon Sumner said.

Sumner, who has been hosting this fundraiser since he joined the Lafayette staff, hopes the yearly sales will, yet again, provide a good amount of funds for the program.

“The goal is to make our wrestling team as strong as possible, make them young men and women of character. In order to do that you need to be organized, you need to fund raise. You’ve got to work hard, it just comes with the gig,” Sumner said.
