The National Honors Society (NHS) induction took place on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the theatre. Following the induction, a celebration was held in the library.

Each August, juniors and seniors who meet the minimum 3.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement are mailed a letter encouraging them to join NHS.

“To be admitted into NHS, students have to also write a timed essay conducted by Lafayette. Students also provide a list of extra-curricular activities in which they are involved in. NHS likes to see well-rounded students who are involved within the school and outside activities as well,” said Nichole Ballard-Long, librarian.

Eight points of service must be completed in order to graduate as a NHS member.

“At the induction, all new members took the NHS oath, and they lit a candle representing their commitment to NHS,” said Ballard-Long.

After the induction, a celebration was held in the library where music was played and students and parents had the opportunity to meet other parents and students.
