Sylvan to offer practice ACT for students on September 7
LHS Renaissance will be partnering with Sylvan Learning Center to provide a $10 practice ACT test for all students grades 9-12 on Saturday, Sept. 7 at LHS from 8-11:30 a.m. The deadline for registration is September 3.
“It’s a great, cheap way to get a full ACT practice and get prepared for taking it, whether it’s April, or another time,” Matt Landwehr, coordinator of the practice ACT and business teacher, said.
To register, students must fill out the registration form and bring $10 cast or check made payable to LHS to the guidance office (Room 123) by Tuesday, Sept. 3.
“All the money goes to Lafayette Renaissance. Renaissance supports students and staff and academic excellence…Pretty much all of the money goes to the kids” Landwehr said.
After the students take the test, Sylvan will host a results night (September 12, around 6-7 p.m. at LHS) where Sylvan will provide score reports and give a short presentation about college and ACT testing.
“If any parents want to come, they can listen to the presentation and kind of get a little help on standardized testing and college and how it works together,” Landwehr said.
Luckily, if students miss registration, have a conflict, or are interested in taking a practice ACT in the future, there is another practice ACT test tentatively scheduled in January.
