The Rockwood School District (RSD) received a $10,000 donation from Phillips 66 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This specific donation will benefit a district program called Rockwood Gives Back.

RSD Chief Financial Officer, Paul Northington, said, “This donation will be used to help families in need during the current crisis. Assistance provided includes food, supplies, clothing, medical and more.” 

Rockwood Gives Back is a program run by the district that operates to aid families in the district that are in need. They run other programs under the Rockwood Gives Back banner such as “Got your Back Pack”, a program that provides food on weekends for RSD families in need. 

According to Phillips 66, the donation was a part of a larger one of $150,000 that was divided out and given to various organizations in Illinois and Missouri.

Area supervisor for Phillips 66 Midstream in Missouri, Derick Gipson, said in a press release, “This pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives. Finding ways to assist those in need in the communities where our employees live and work is more important than ever.”

Phillips 66’s donation was secured for the metropolitan area by Gus Wagner, who works for Arc Media, an electrical company. 

The principal of LHS, Dr. Karen Calcaterra, recognizes that this donation will help families in the school district by allowing more people to “receive [Rockwood Gives Back’s] help or services”.
