Participants in Open Call auditions will need to prepare two songs for the audition that may be from any genre and sung my any artist.
The Voice does not pay for any traveling expenses for applicants however it is possible to send in video submissions and are accepted at any time.
Because of such traveling expenses, St. Louis auditions are beneficial to people who live in the St. Louis area, including vocal teacher, Michele Rodgers.
“It’s very expensive to travel to other cities to audition. There are some large auditioning groups that meet with multiple theater houses auditioning on the same day. When those type of auditions happen, you have the benefit of being seen by quite a few directors & producers all at once. Now that’s a value!” Rodgers said.
“I think that people should audition whether they think they could make it or not cause it is a great once in a lifetime opportunity for people to take,” freshman Madeline Narducci said.
The Voice is currently looking for solo and duo vocalists who can perform either pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, alternative, latin, country, blues or indie music.
If you are chosen for the competition you must also be willing to travel and reside in an unknown location in the months of March of 2013 until December of 2013, where travel and lodging to this location will be paid for by the producer.
Other audition locations include New York City, Las Vegas and Austin.
But winning isn’t everything when it comes to competitions like these, many do the competitions for the vocal and life experience that you can from the competitions and Rodgers thinks that many should audition for that reason alone.
“All vocalists should practice auditioning! The best way to grow as a singer is to audition every chance you get. You might not get picked, but the experience is priceless,” Rodgers said.
