Teacher of the Year nominations are due for both staff and students on Friday, Dec. 14 in the Welcome Center or Room 93.
“I think it’s just a great way to recognize a teacher and all that they do, it’s a good way to honor them,” Associate Principal Nisha Patel said.
Students and teachers are asked to submit nominations for a teacher they believe has excelled in their teaching profession and is highly skilled in the classroom.
Those making a nomination must present a speech at the February facility meeting to support their candidate.
Patel highly encourages students to submit nominations.
“When teachers are in front of a classroom they’re serving the students. This is a way for the students to give back and say ‘You know, you made a difference in my life,’ which is why it’s great to hear from the student perspective,” she said.
Past winners of the Teacher of the Year award are ineligible for nomination. All past Rockwood winners can be found at this link.
