As the school year nears an end, hockey season is just beginning. The Lafayette Ice Hockey team will start its season this August. However, a summer program will be taking place beforehand.
Lafayette Hockey is a club sport; while it is associated with Lafayette and supported by its students, it is not sponsored by the school. Students ranging anywhere from 7th to 12th grade are eligible to play, the only qualification being that they will attend high school at Lafayette..
The program offers four different levels of play during regular season, and team members are selected through a tryout process that will take place in August. The summer team will be constructed on a first come first serve basis. It will be a chance for players to familiarize themselves with the caliber of high school play.
There will be a General Membership meeting at Daniel Boone Library in Ellisville at 7 p.m. on April 12. Those interested are encouraged to attend, as coaches and board members will be present to answer questions and provide information about the summer program.
Additional information can be found on the program’s website, http://www.eteamz.com/lhshockey/. Also available to answer questions and provide information for those interested is Suzette Cerko, who can be reached through e-mail at [email protected].
