Amy Danner is the new secretary in the Front Office at Lafayette.
After being a marketing manager at a small software company for nine years, then being a stay-at-home mom for 10, Danner said she was ready to get back into the workforce and started her job as a secretary Nov. 15, 2023.
Danner said she has grown to love Lafayette.
She currently has a 17-year-old junior attending the school, a 19-year-old Lafayette graduate and two younger kids, ages 12 and 9 that will be attending the school when they are older.
Danner said that she thought it would be neat to work alongside her children at school, so when she heard about the position, she was excited for the opportunity.
She also said she appreciates her work schedule.
“The hours are really good. I get the summers off with my family,” Danner said.
Something that Danner did not expect though, was to be so busy. She said that no matter the time of day, she is always working on something.
“Each day is never the same,” Danner said.
But the unpredictability of her day-to-day life is one of the things she likes most about the job. She is also extremely fond of multitasking. Her tasks range from writing emails, barcoding books, checking kids into school, answering phone calls and more.
With that, Danner has also gotten close to her co-workers.
“I love the people I work with,” she said.
Overall, being familiar with the school and people has made Danner’s transition into her new job a lot smoother.
If students or staff would like to reach Danner, she is in her office from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
