World language teacher Sarah Pearl’s most memorable Homecoming was in 2012 during her sophomore year at St. Joseph’s Academy.
Although Pearl said she doesn’t remember much of the dance itself, she has a distinct memory of her teachers performing a dance in the middle of the gym.
“The teachers choreographed a flash mob thing and halfway through the dance they took over the dance floor and performed a dance for all of us, none of us were expecting it,” Pearl said. “That was kind of funny.”
Pearl said she went with her at-the-time boyfriend Eric.
“I don’t think I did anything cute [to ask him]. I just asked him if he’d go with me,” she said.
At the time, Pearl said she wore a sleeveless tight red dress.
“Everyone was wearing bandage dresses. The tight dresses that were short and strapless [were in style],” she said.
Pearl said she remembered being nervous attending the dance as her school was very strict on dress code and she thought her skirt was a little too short.
“You had to take off your jacket when you got there and they had to look at you, because my dress was a little short, I was worried that I might get dress-coded but it was all good,” Pearl said.
As a teacher now, Pearl said she feels excited for this year’s Homecoming.
“I love to see all the girls’ dresses and what they’re planning on wearing and it’s just fun,” she said.
