Super Smash Bros. Four tournament organized by students held in library

On Friday, Jan. 12, the library hosted a Super Smash Bros. Four tournament. A group of students came up with the idea as they wanted to improve on a previous Smash Brothers tournament hosted two years ago. With approval from librarian Nichole Ballard-Long, the tournament garnered 54 total participants.

What’s a Lancer?

In a routine based off of the Hindu gods Krishna and Radha, sophomore Hritika Malugu and Brentwood High School freshman Meenakshi Kadungath strike a pose. Malugus favorite routine is also based off of Krishna. My favorite dance piece is probably Asainthadum which is a classical piece about how everyone is happy when Krishna is around. It’s really dynamic and has a lot of fun steps, Malugu said.

On April 8, during the eclipse, librarians, Jane Lingafelter and Robin Van Iwaarden, look at the sun using solar viewers, while on the field. Students and staff spent time on the field during the eclipse. The next partial eclipse in Missouri wont be till 2045.

Lafayette students, staff observe eclipse

Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”
