Out and About: Candicci’s

Sabrina Ross, Reporter

If you’re like me, you love a good bowl of pasta. My favorite place to get said pasta is Candicci’s which is located at 100 Holloway Rd. in Ballwin

Not only do they sell pasta, but they also sell flatbreads, sandwiches, pizza and salads. Prices for appetizers start around $5 and entree prices are as high as $20. For a nice pasta place they are relatively affordable which is very much appreciated for a minimum wage earning student.

As far as dress code goes they do not have one you are welcome to eat in a dress or in a sweats and a T-shirt. The setting is very comfort casual. The second you walk in you are greeted by a kind hostess and shown to your seat. They have patio seating and inside seating available. During the summer the outside seating is the place to be it is cooled by light overhead fans giving that perfect summer breeze. The last time I was there they also had live music that was fun for my whole family.

Enough about the inside because it’s their food that steals the show. The menu was full of different Italian dishes that are served in big portions and are delectable and delicious. Starting with appetizers, when I was there I got the calamari and it was amazing, not chewy with a perfect texture.

Next, I got my favorite dish there the pasta carbonara. It is orecchiette noodles smothered with white sauce and topped with chicken, bacon and scallions. The sauce is so creamy and thick that it’s hard to finish in one sitting, but trust me if you take it home it tastes even better the next day.

I have yet to try their dessert, but they serve spumoni ice cream, cannoli and homemade tiramisu. All of their food is filling and I think that it is great comfort food.

They are open Monday-Sunday and are also available for catering and carry-out. I highly suggest that you try this amazing place. Your stomach will thank you later.
