The Last Time I… mowed the lawn

For many, mowing lawns can be a great source of income. For others, it can be another tedious chore and Collin Brown, sophomore, isn’t a huge fan of mowing his lawn.

“I really don’t like mowing,” Brown said. “I mow two acres of hilly land and only get paid seven dollars.”

Most companies would charge around $100 to mow two acres of land, and that’s not counting any obstacles. Brown faces a even bigger problem: he doesn’t use a riding mower to mow his two acres.

“I use a push mower, which is exhausting.” Brown said. “It usually takes me two or more hours to mow.”

He tends to mow his lawn every other weekend and has to mow around trees, a playground and, of course, hills. According to Brown, this tiring job is not something anyone would want to do, especially when you don’t have the equipment necessary to make the job a little easier.

“It would be a lot more enjoyable if I had a [riding mower],” Brown said.

Even though Brown doesn’t look forward to every other Saturday, he still feels good helping around the house. He hopes to one day upgrade to a riding mower and make mowing the lawn a little more bearable.
