Out and About: Walnut Grill Restaurant provides urban vibe, quality food
January 15, 2015
After hearing about a new restaurant called Walnut Grill, I decided to give it a try on Thursday, Jan. 8 after school.
Jazzy, funky music played and art displayed the restaurant. The sit-down setting gave the restaurant an interesting vibe that in my opinion can appeal to many tastes.
I ordered raspberry tea and a Margarita flat bread pizza. This included fresh-tasting tomatoes, olive oil and cheese on crust and I enjoyed the fresh tastes. It was more food than I could eat alone, so I shared the rest with a friend.
The menu also included chicken, desserts, pasta, salad, sandwiches, seafood, soup and steak. Prices at Walnut Grill range from $5 to $30. My total was about $16.
The restaurant wasn’t too busy when I was there, but the service took a while. Still, my server was attentive. The wait may be attributed to a short staff and the flatbread requiring a lengthy preparation.
Overall, I would probably go back to this restaurant if it was with my family; it’s not my favorite place to go to eat with a friend.
The Walnut Grill I visited is located in Ellisville. Others are in Bridgeville, Fox Chapel, Mt. Lebanon and Wexford, PA.
The Walnut Grill caters and offers gift cards and reservations.
