Out and About: King and I provides unique Thai experience in The Loop by owners of beloved Chesterfield restaurant
When I first heard about King and I, I was anticipating a fantastic meal since I visit the owners’ other restaurant, Oishi’s Sushi and Steakhouse, for birthdays and love eating there for the flavor and experience.
King and I has a beautiful interior with various decorations of gold in an Asian-inspired theme.
There are different areas to sit, including an open area more suited for families and another dim lit room with a bar included and sports games airing on various televisions.
When I first opened the menu I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of foods to choose from.
The younger members of my family are very picky eaters and can be quite a handful, so my parents were happy to find that there was something for everyone.
My initial idea was to go with something simple, such as the fried rice, which I had heard was delicious. But in a moment of courage I decided to go with the yellow curry since I had never tried real Thai food before.
The food arrived quickly for a dine-in restaurant and we found ourselves sampling what the others had gotten. Even my brothers decided to take a chance (through a tempting bribe of $1) and tried the curry my mom and I had ordered.
Overall the experience broadened everyone’s taste buds and brought a new love of Thai food into my life. Despite its distance from West County, I will definitely be visiting again and recommend the same to anyone looking for the best curry in St. Louis.
Visit King and I at 3157 S Grand Ave. To view the menu and for other information visit www.thaispicy.com.
