Sydney Lintner, sophomore, has been working with horses for the past eight years and participates in many competitions.
“In some competitions, I am judged in style, position and form. In others I jump horses,” Sydney said.
Ever since she was little, Sydney was always interested in horses, but she was too small to ride. Eventually she participated in her first camp at Baskin Farms.
Rodger Lintner, Sydney’s father, said, “When we picked her up, it was rainy and windy. I expected her to be in a horrible mood. However, when I finally saw her, she was soaked, walking a horse with a giant grin. That was when I knew riding horses was going to be her passion.”
As she trains, Sydney grows attached to each horse including her previous horse, Bandit and her current horse, Dobby.
“Riding horses takes up a lot of time and effort. I ride two horses a day and spend about three hours with each horse several days each week,” she said.
Most of Sydney’s goals as an equestrian lie in the future.
Sydney said, “I hope to get a scholarship in the division one equestrian team. However, my ultimate goal is to eventually make it to the Olympics.”
