Indigo Joe’s, located in the Wildwood Town Center at Manchester and Taylor, is relatively far from the main road, on the newer edge of the plaza and often unseen by Wildwood visitors.
Don’t let the placement fool you, however. This restaurant, which specializes in pub and grill food, deserves top billing.
Many of the restaraunt’s visitors may enjoy the venue’s “game day” atmosphere; the multiple large-screen TVs and sports-themed apparel will make any sporting event more festive.
These elements make Indigo Joe’s a typical sports bar. However, the restaurant emphasizes its uniqueness by claiming on their website, indigojoes.com, that they “don’t serve the typical sports bar food”.
This is definitely true. The meals at Indigo Joe’s retain the classic sports-bar feel (they emphasize burgers, fries, and sandwiches) but are expertly seasoned and uniquely put together enough to feel gourmet rather than cliche.
The first time my family and I visited the restaurant, I was wary. As a family of vegetarians, I wasn’t expecting a lot of choices.
However, we do eat fish, and we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered the salmon sandwich, served dripping with sauce and accompanied by wedge-cut fries.
Meat-eaters will fare even better. Indigo Joe’s burgers and chicken sandwiches are legendary, and the smell of them was certainly tempting to me as I sat and waited for my food.
Try out Indigo Joe’s for a date, family meal, or game day; you won’t be disappointed.
