In the basement of the Daniel Boone Library, the Asian Center provides opportunities for the St. Louis County’s local Asian population to access books, periodicals, videos and references in a variety of languages.
Languages include Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Indian. Materials from other countries may be added in the near future.
For those wishing to learn about Asian culture, history and geography, the center also has books written in English as well as a variety of bilingual books in both English and Asian language.
There is also a children’s corner, decorated with Asian lamps and posters, which houses an assortment of children’s books in several languages.
The center also features many cultural programs, which are available for both children and adults.
There are a few computers in the center, all of which feature a Chinese language periodical database, called Qikan, and internet access. The center offers bilingual computer classes.
