For junior Alea Hughes, drawing characters became a project she has been working on since November 2009.
Her character book includes drawings of as they would look like in the fantasy scenario of their choice.
Hughes said the idea to make a book full of characters was inspired by her friends’ creativity, because they were writing novels.
“There are about 50 people in the book, and each person is accompanied by a character that they have requested, or that I can see them being,” Hughes said.
Hughes typically uses pencil for her works, but she occasionally switches materials.
“Once in awhile I like to paint in acrylics, draw in charcoal or paint in photoshop, but I usually stay with my more traditional pencil and paper,” she said.
Hughes has completed many drawings in her book, but still has a long way to go.
“I have not really made much progress on it since February, since I have been busy with school, but I hope that I can finish the book before the school year is over,” Hughes said.
