Senior Lauren Moll loves art. Photography. Drawing. Computer graphics and graphic design. The list goes on.
“I really love all types of art. I guess the things that I do and like the most are graphic design and photography,” she said.
However, art isn’t just a hobby for Moll. By utilizing the various art forms she prefers, bold self-expression emerges.
“I love how I can express myself through art. I’m a pretty quiet person and I keep to myself most of the time. I love that when I take photos or create a collage or draw a picture, I can express what I’m feeling and who I really am,” she explained.
Moll has taken graphic design classes and is now in a drawing class. Although she loves every type of art, graphic design is her passion and plans to pursue art in the future.
“I’m planning on going to college to study visual communications, which is pretty much graphic design and advertising. My dream job is to design and layout the pages of a fashion or music magazine. I hope I can find something similar to that for my career.”
Moll began to experiment with graphic design elements as early as the age of 13.
“I started graphic design in about 7th Grade. My brother’s computer had Photoshop, so I started playing around with it and eventually figured out how it worked. From there, I designed things from thank you cards to website layouts,” she said.
Photography is another art direction Moll has been interested in at a very young age.
“I’ve been a photographer for as long I can remember. I have always been the weird girl who everyone has to wait on because I’m taking a picture of a cool looking trashcan or a neat landscape,” she said.
The best part of creating art for Moll is the positivity and the abstract way to explain who she is.
“I make art because it’s almost therapeutic. Art makes me feel happy and it’s a whole lot of fun,” she said.
