At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

5 Questions With . . . Jake Stergos

Q: When did your interest in music first begin?
A: I got my first taste of music playing violin in the 4th Grade because we were all forced to, but I really started digging it during middle school. I chose to play the upright bass in 5th Grade because it was the biggest instrument I could find, and that seemed pretty cool at the time.
Q: What instruments do you play?
A: I play upright bass and bass guitar. I spend most of my time playing acoustic guitar and I’m working on drums. I’m most comfortable musically playing the bass guitar though.

Q: What is your favorite instrument to play?
A: My favorite instrument to play is the drums, which is a shame because I’m not all that great of a drummer. But, I just really like making loud noises, and drums are perfect for that.

Q: What is your favorite kind of music to listen to?
A: I’ve been getting into more acoustic music lately, mostly because a good friend of mine has been cramming my iPod with it in the past few days. So, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes are some new favorites, and I finally managed to get into Vampire Weekend as well.

Q: Have you ever thought about pursuing music as a career?
A: I would love to pursue music as a career, but I’m not sure at the moment where to go with it. My experience in Orchestra provides me with a great opportunity to go into a more classical musical education, but I enjoy songwriting and more modern music as well, so being an audio engineer or taking a composition major could help me out in that way.
