Nine important dates for the Class of 2020
Due to the spread of COVID-19, The Rockwood School District has closed all schools through April 22, leaving at most 17 remaining school days for the Class of 2020. Here are nine dates the Class of 2020 should mark down.
April 3: The Senior Magazine Questionnaire and anonymous poll for the Image Senior Magazine are due at midnight on April 3. These links were emailed to seniors on March 30.
April 5: Voting for awards for Senior Awards Night is due on April 5.
April 8: Photos for the Senior Blink of an Eye Video are due on April 8. A class picture-style portrait from the fall of 2007 or 2008 should be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line as the student’s name.
April 23: As of March 31, Rockwood is set to welcome students back to school on April 23.
May 1: National Decision Day is May 1, and marks the deadline to submit acceptance and deposits to many universities. However, due to the circumstances caused by the coronavirus, many universities have extended this date to June 1.
May 14: Senior Awards Night has been rescheduled for May 14 at 7 p.m. in the Lafayette Theatre.
May 16: Prom has been rescheduled for May 16 from 7-10 p.m. at Lafayette. The change in location was made to provide flexibility, reduce the cost of tickets and provide the opportunity to use local businesses to cater, according to an email from Karen Calcaterra on March 31.
May 21: Graduation is still scheduled for May 21 at 7 p.m. at Chaifetz Arena. However, an alternative plan has been organized in the case that May 21 is not an option.
June 5: If Graduation can not take place on May 21, it will be moved to June 5 at 5 p.m. at Chaifetz Arena.
Tutoring/mentoring hours for the A+ Program have been reduced from 50 to 25 for Class of 2020 seniors. More information can be found on the A+ Program and Testing COVID-19 Update site.
