Michael Franklin announced as new Associate Principal
Dr. Michael Franklin will serve as Lafayette’s new Associate Principal beginning July 1. The Rockwood Board approved him for the position on May 17.
He is currently an assistant principal at Lindbergh High School. He also has experience as an assistant principal at Warrenton High School and teaching language arts in Valley Park and at El Camino High in Oceanside, CA.
Franklin earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Maryville University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Walden University. His bachelor’s degree in secondary education is from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. In addition, he has a bachelor’s degree in English from Rockhurst University.
“I think he’ll be good here. He’ll bring a lot of new talent here to Lafayette,” Principal Karen Calcaterra said.
Franklin said he is looking forward to being part of the Lafayette community, not only as an administrator but as a parent, too. He lives in the LHS attendance area, so his three young children will attend Lafayette when they reach high school age.
He said, “Every good school teaches you something. I hope to learn a lot here. I look forward to just being able to work at a school with such greatness.”
