Dan Peipert sets the ball in a game against Fox. The Lancers would go on to win the contest 25-5, 25-7.

The season for the Lancers Boys volleyball team is off to a raging start. The squad has played some great volleyball on their way to a 15-1-1 record. This includes a second place finish at a travel tournament up in Chicago.  This solid play can be simply chalked up to solid play and leadership from the seniors.

If the team can continue their dominance on the court, the sky is the limit for this team. Not only will they continue to win games, but they could reach their goal of winning that elusive second State title.

“We’ve been very successful this year and it’s a testament to the nine seniors that are stepping up and filling roles that they didn’t think were possible,” Head Coach Doug Ell said. “They’re taking themselves to a level that I’ve never seen from a senior class.”

The team has faced adversity this season but has overcome it and flourished in the process.

“Everyday is another step. Everyday is a new challenge and these guys are rising to that challenge with every obstacle we’ve put before them they’re not only accomplishing that goal, but moving forward asking what the next one is going to be. Ultimately we hope that each step gets us to where our final goal is: a State championship.” Ell said.

Their next game is set to be against Seckman (4-5-1) at home starting at 5:15 p.m.
