Lancers seek retribution in playoff rematch versus Pioneers
After last seasons playoff loss to the Pioneers the Lancers will strive to come out on top.
October 29, 2015
After a 41-0 stomping of the Northwest Cedar Hill Lions, the Lancers appear ready to roll versus the Pioneers. By the end of the first half, the Lancers were already up by a score of 35-0 courtesy of five touchdowns by Tanner Grimm (four rushing and one receiving). The second half however was relatively low scoring as the Lancers only added six more points but still allowed zero points to be scored by the opponent good for a 41-0 victory.
The Lancers seek revenge in their round two match up; this is a double revenge match against the Pioneers who beat the Lancers in last years playoffs and earlier this year. Kirkwood sits at 8-1, their only loss of the year to SLUH, a team that beat Lafayette as well.
In the last match up between these two teams, the Pioneers prevailed 28-10 in a game where Kirkwood gashed out run defense, rushing for 242 yards. Since then, Lafayette’s run defense is much improved, only letting two teams rush for more than 100 yards.
Led by Tanner Grimm, The Lancers’ offense has emerged as a near unstoppable force, scoring over 33 points per game in the last seven games in the stretch where the team went 6-1.
The game is Oct. 30 against Kirkwood at 7 p.m.
