Lafayette’s varsity volleyball squad played another match on Oct. 20 in which they dominated. For the past few years, Lafayette hasn’t reacted at all to the increasing pressure that has been applied because of their continued success on the court.

The Lancers were to play the winner of Rockwood Summit High School v Washington High School. They ended up going up against Washington won by a score 25-12 and 25-14 in the second set.

Going into the game, senior Amanda Beatson said, “I think some of us may be a little nervous sometimes, but I think if we just get past that and focus on one point at a time and one game at a time, we’ll be good.”

But the jitters didn’t get to them as they won their first set easily, 19-25. The second set was a little more difficult as they couldn’t made quick work of their opponents like they did the first match, but they still won 26-28.

After they won the 5 p.m. game, they faced Eureka. They continued their strong play winning easily against the Wildcats, 14-25. In the second match, they won 25-22, making them District champions.
The Lady Lancers continue their postseason when they play Ursuline at Cor Jesu on Oct 24 at 12 p.m.
