Traci Bolton sponsors Hot Wheel Challenge
During the holiday season, a spirit of giving takes hold of Lafayette. Many donate, but music teacher Traci Bolton has taken the charitable acts to the next level.
Digital media staffer Alex Witzig takes a look at Bolton’s Hot Wheel Challenge.
“I wanted to participate but also to find a way to get all of my classes involved,” Bolton said of her motivation to start the Challenge.
Bolton has asked both her guitar and band classes donate Hot Wheels, mainly because of their practicality and low price.
“This time of year sales will get them even lower,” Bolton added.
The Hot Wheel Challenge started four years ago and that year 60 Hot Wheels were collected. Bolton says the goal this year is to beat last year’s 825 Hot Wheels collected, but she thinks it would be amazing if Lafayette could beat Marquette’s 3700 Hot Wheels collected (Traci’s husband Ed Bolton is a science teacher at Marquette and competes against his wife annually in donations).
This year, Lafayette has already raised 586 Hot Wheels. The challenge runs until Dec. 6, and students can drop off Hot Wheels in Room 102.
