Haefner earns 1,000 points in his basketball career, 10 wrestlers advance to State

Boys Basketball
The Lancers played Mehlville Feb. 16 at home, beating them 55-34. It brings their overall record to 13-12. In the game, senior Matt Haefner reached a milestone of 1,000 points scored in his high school basketball career. “It’s definitely something very humbling. It feels like all the work I’ve put in has finally paid off so it feels very accomplishing to be able to do that,” Haefner said. The Lancers will face the Francis Howell Central Spartans Feb. 24 for an away game at 6:30 p.m. in their final regular season game.
Girls Basketball
The Lady Lancers played Lindbergh Feb. 16 for an away game, falling 55-23. The Lancers will face the Francis Howell Central Spartans Feb. 21 away game at 6 p.m.
Hockey
Kicking off the quarterfinals of the Wickenheiser Cup on Feb. 13, the Lancers faced Clayton in the first round and won the first game 4-1. In the next game against Clayton, they lost 4-2 and ended in a mini-game, which the Lancers won 4-1 advancing them to the semifinals. advanced to the semi-finals. In the semis, the Lancers will face off against Oakville at Centenne Center on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. and then again on Feb. 25 at 1:15 p.m.
Girls Swimming and Diving
At the State Meet Feb. 17 the Lancers placed 7th place overall in MSHAA Class 2 with 159 points. Senior Maggie Arceneaux finished in 4th place for diving and sophomore Lucia Tenny who placed 6th. In individual events, junior Taylor Cloutman finished in 4th place in the 500 free, senior Grace Tyson finished 8th place in 100 fly, junior Ellie Kipper placed 10th in the 500 free and 12th in the 200 free, junior Megan Bilsland placed 12th in the 100 backstroke and senior Madison Prager placed 12th in the 100 breaststroke. In the relay events, the team of Bilsland, Prager, Tyson and senior Morgan O’Connell placed 7th in the 200 medley relay. Cloutman, Kipper, Prager and freshman Isabella Clerico placed 7th in the 200 free relay. Bilsland, Cloutman Kipper and Tyson placed 8th in the 400 free relay
Boys Wrestling
The Lancers finished 1st place at the MSHSAA Class 4 District 1 District Tournament Feb. 18. Ten wrestlers qualified for State in Columbia, Feb. 24-25. Sophomore Aiden Schoen and juniors Dylan Roth and Andrew Wier placed first in their weight classes. Senior Gavin Shoulders placed 2nd. Freshmen Calum Brown, Ahmad Ghuneim, sophomore Jackson Tenny and seniors Blake Johnson and Jeremy Lewis placed 3rd. Senior Hunter Song placed 4th.
