Boys Basketball 

The Lancers played a close game against Oakville Dec. 12, losing by just three points,  71-69. Later in the week on Dec. 17, the Lancers had another close game against Marquette, losing 47-45. Junior Dade Ellison said the team played to different strengths in each game. “I think we played much better as a unit against Oakville, especially offensively, but defensively we were definitely more solid against Marquette,” Ellison said.

Girls Basketball 

On Dec. 12, the Lady Lancers had their sixth loss of the season as they fell to Oakville, 49-40. Sophomore Taylor Nania scored six in the game. Later that week the team lost to Marquette, 66-24. The girls travel to Eureka on Dec. 21 to face the Wildcats at 5:45 p.m.

Hockey 

On Dec. 12, Lancer hockey won against Timberland with a final score of 5-0. It was their second win of the season. Following that game on Dec. 16, they tied with CBC, 0-0. On Dec. 17, they fell to CBC, 9-0. Their current record for this season is 2-9. The team will be busy over the holiday break with games on Dec. 23, Dec. 26, Dec. 29 and Jan. 1.

Girls Swimming and Diving 

Girls Swimming and Diving lost to Kirkwood on Dec. 13, 108-78. Junior Megan Bilsland said she dropped time from the last meet and plans to use Winter Break to rest up and get ready for the rest of the season. “The team right now is focusing on this break taking this time to kind of relax while also training for upcoming events. “The main goal is to have fun because we have learned that we do better when we all are having fun and cheering people on,” Bilsland said. After break, the team faces Ladue at home on Jan. 3.

Boys Wrestling

Boys wrestling beat Northwest 53-23 on Dec. 13. At the KCI Stampede Tournament in Kansas City, held on Dec. 16, the team finished in 21st place out of 72 teams from across the country. Senior Gavin Shoulders, who placed in the top 12 in his division, said he was surprised by the tournament’s outcome. “I expected us to do a little better, but I feel we all needed to be humbled pretty soon, and we were. Personally, I feel I could have done a little better, but I’m not too upset about my outcome or my team’s outcome,” Shoulders said. He and junior Andrew Wier finished in the Top 12 in their weight classes.

Girls Wrestling 

The girls wrestling team won against Lindbergh last week, but fell to Northwest Cedar Hill, 60-24 on Dec. 13 in the special match held in the LHS Theater. Head Coach Wade Pinkston plans to use the match as an initial benchmark for his team. “The Northwest dual was a tough one, they are perennially a good team. We came out strong and made them wrestle us with the best they had. It was a good litmus test and we can identify some of our weaknesses and take steps to address them and improve both individually and as a group,” Pinkston said.
