The cross country team competed in the Patriot Classic at Castlewood State Park on Oct. 14. However, rather than the varsity members racing, top JV runners were moved up to compete in order to save the varsity runners for Districts.
Varsity girls had an outstanding showing, taking first place among the teams. Sophomore Jessy Maddox took first place with a time of 20:17.00, followed closely by freshman Rachel Weustling in a time of 20:28.90.
The boys only ran three members, and therefore did not place. However each runner finished among the top places. Senior Kurtis Harshman place second in a time of 16:13.00, and sophomore Derek Legenzoff, in a time of 16:42.90, placed third.
The teams plans to continues their success in Districts on Oct. 23 at Parkway Central.
