The Lancers will enter this week’s matchup against Oakville (1-5, 1-3) with something they haven’t had yet this season: a winning streak. They have won their last two games in dominating fashion, beating Northwest and Fox by a combined score of 85-6 and currently sit at 3-3.
Their recent offensive resurgence continued with last week’s 45-6 win over Fox. It was the most balanced performances of the season, as the team totaled 415 total yards and had six different players score a touchdown. Junior quarterback Dominic Bisesi had his third straight 200-yard passing game, while junior Tyler Manne emerged as a legitimate receiving threat with five catches for 109 yards.
“It was great,” Manne said, “I couldn’t have done it without my offensive line and my quarterback.”
Coach Boyd Manne has noticed a considerable change in the team’s play and is confident that it will translate into postseason success.
“Our kids are playing harder and starting to make plays We played some tough teams early on; hopefully that prepared us for District playoff time,” Coach Boyd Manne.
Meanwhile, the Tigers seem to be headed in the opposite direction. They come with a 1-5 record and have been outscored 26-107 in their last three games. Their lone victory of the season was a 33-21 win over Parkway South on Sept. 10.
While they haven’t exactly lit up the scoreboard so far, junior Javon Henderson has done a solid job of leading the offense. He has thrown for 207 yards and four touchdowns this season. To make up for a modest passing game, the team has put together a strong rushing attack. Senior Darrion Moore is rushing for 115 yards per game, with Henderson not far behind at an average of 92 yards.
The Oct. 8 kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Oakville.
