Last Season Success: Lafayette did not have a great season last year, as they finished with a 5-13 record and got knocked out of the Class 3 District 2 tournament in the first round to Eureka. Despite this, Hudson Kohler, Class of 2023, managed to qualify for the State individuals in singles.
What are some expectations going into the season? “We expect to be competitive at the team and individual district tournament with the goal of moving the team onto sectionals, hopefully qualifying for the team and individual state tournament,” Fish said.
Challenges for the Season: Since the team is carrying 12 varsity players this season, Fish expects to face challenges deciding which players will fit the roster based on individual matchups against opponents.
Players to Watch for: Some returning key players this season are seniors Dhruvan Kiran, Rishi Madhavan, Rachit Patel, juniors Vedu Chimakurthy and sophomore Avyukth Raghuraman.
New Faces: “We have 4 new high performing freshmen – Adi Ganesh, Adam Nelson, Nikhil Sharma, and Aiden Thomas which will be a welcome addition to the 2024-25 team adding much needed depth at our singles and doubles slots,” Fish said.
