The Lafayette girls volleyball team’s Senior Night loss to Parkway West, Oct 10, is the second loss for the Lancers this season. As the two-time defending state champion, the 3-0 loss to the Longhorns comes as a surprise. Before the game, the girls volleyball program had lost only three games since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season.
Junior libero Addy Wiese says the team could have played better.
“We should’ve serve-received better, we should’ve went after more balls and [we should’ve been] hitting more consistent,” Wiese said.
Despite this loss, Senior Night brought excitement to players, parents and coaches.
“It’s a tough one to lose on Senior Night but we still have eight amazing seniors,” girls volleyball Head Coach Zach Young said, “as you see the seniors walk out, in my mind it’s like a Rolodex of seeing them from when they were in 6th and 7th grade coming to camp to freshman year and sophomore year.”
The next game for the Lancers will be at Omaha Skutt High School in Nebraska for a tournament, Oct 11.
Before the game, the seniors walked out with their parents. As they walked out, their accomplishments, college plans and favorite memories were announced.
