Spring sports head into final weeks with five teams still in the hunt for State titles

Baseball: On May 19, the Lancers beat Washington 4-0 in the first game of Districts. Senior Gavin Oswald pitched a complete game shut out only allowing one hits and striking out 14.  However, the next day the Lancers ended their season with a 14-3 loss to Marquette in the semifinals. Senior John Kramer went 2-3 with a home run. The Lancer finished with a 22-8 overall record.

Girls Lacrosse: On May 20, the Lady Lancers defeated Clayton, 16-5. The top scorers in the game were sophomore Natalie Tomljenovic with five goals and senior Sophia Scheller, who finished with three. On May 22, the Lancers won the Battle of 109, defeating Eureka 7-6 in an overtime thriller. Junior Ansley Hails led the team with three goals and Scheller scored the winning goal in overtime.

Girls Soccer: In the District Championship on May 20, the Lady Lancers took down the Eureka Wildcats in double overtime, 3-2. Freshman Allie Kinner netted the winning goal.

Girls Track and Field: At the May 22 Sectional Meet, girls track placed fourth overall. The Lady Lancers had two Sectional champions with the 4×800 relay team of seniors Katie Reed, Madison Slater, Hope Ware and sophomore Grace Tyson and Tyson again in the 3200m. The Lady Lancers had three more State qualifiers: Tyson in the 1600m, Slater in the 400m and senior Katie Bollinger in javelin.

Boys Track and Field: The boys team advanced the following to the State Championship: senior Vance Lear in javelin and senior Pernell Garner, juniors Malik Hampton and Alex Wildt and freshman David Marshall in the 4×400 relay.

Boys Volleyball: On May 21, the Lancers beat Francis Howell North in the State Quarterfinal in straight sets, 3-0. The Lancers advance to the Final Four and face SLUH on Wednesday, May 26 at Webster Groves.
