Kreikemeier prepares for another successful season
For the past two seasons, junior Max Kreikemeier has competed in the Class 4 Boys Golf State Championships. He placed 10th as a freshman and 11th as a sophomore, but this season, Kreikemeier is hoping for an ever better State finish.
“My goal is to finally win State,” Kreikemeier said.
Last season, Kreikemeier had the third lowest 18-hole score in the St. Louis area with 68 strokes, shooting three under par. Kreikemeier has been prepping himself in the offseason to improve this record.
“I have been playing and practicing whenever the weather is good enough,” he said.
Since Kreikemeier has competed at State for two consecutive seasons, he could easily be considered the leader of the boys golf team, but Kreikemeier doesn’t think the team needs his leadership.
“I don’t really need to lead [my team],” Kreikemeier said. “Everyone on the team is very competitive, and they all want to make it to State, so they have that to strive for.”
Kreikemeier is a fierce competitor on the course, but competing isn’t the only thing he’s excited for this season.
“I am most excited for the competition to start up again,” Kreikemeier said. “Also coach has great snacks, and that is a major plus to the season.”
