Students settling in with Chromebooks

This school year a new policy has been implemented where students will get their own Chromebooks for school work. A laptop is assigned to each student. They will take them to class and home for school work. Language Arts teacher Dawn Indelicato-Faw is piloting this new policy. Her students received their laptops a week ago. The goal is for every student in the future to have their own laptop.

The students are still adjusting to the policy, “They seem pretty excited about it, but also uncertain when and where they can use them. This is something that they will learn over time as teachers get used to having students with laptops in their classes,” Indelicato-Faw said.

So far there has only been one technology issue, so things seem to be going well.

Some people have concerns about Chromebooks being a distraction in the classroom,

“At this point, it’s too early to tell. We’ve only had them about a week. I think it’s going to take a little time for students to get used to bringing them to class every time,” Indelicato-Faw said.
