The General Municipal Election is today, April 5. The Rockwood School District will also be directly impacted by this election, as two seats for the Rockwood Board of Education will be up for grabs. Jessica Clark, Izzy Imig, Charles Keith Messmer, Amy Ryan and Deborah Stine are all running for the two three-year terms.

Some polling places include Babler Elementary School, Rockwood Valley Middle School, STLCC Wildwood Campus and Wildwood City Hall along with several other locations found here. Polls opened at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Lafayette parent Babara Rosenbaum believes voting is important. 

“As an American in a democracy, we fought for the right to vote, and it is your duty as an American to vote in every election regardless of whether it’s a local or national election,” Rosenbaum said. 

Rosenbaum said it’s also important because it’s one way to influence policies through the ideas the new candidates could bring. 

“If you’re not happy with the way things are, voting can change that,” Rosenbaum said.

Also on the ballot is Proposition P, also known as Prop P, which would create a dedicated funding source for annual cycle maintenance.
