The names of all the students ranking in the Semifinals of the National Merit Scholarship Program were released to the public on September 9th. Out of the 26 students elected in the entire Rockwood School District and out of the 16,000 students who were ranked in the Semifinals, 11 of those scholars were from Lafayette.

Those from Lafayette were seniors Sravya Ainapurapu, Conner Fastenau, Christopher Foley, Yutong Han, Grey Huffines, Patrick Levine, Luke Neise, Hayley Ockerhausen, Paul Stricklin, Jack Trube, and Kyle Westendorf.

These students will continue on in the competition to strive towards one of the 7,400 scholarships provided by the National Merit Scholarship Program.

“It was an honor to be selected in the top percentage among all the students,” Jack Trube said. “This will really help with college because there’s a huge list of schools that are offering full rides for National Merit finalists.”
