In order to combat a projected $238 billon loss over the next ten years, the United States Postal Service has proposed a five day delivery week, instead of the usual six. If the proposal passes, mail will no longer be delivered on Saturdays in order to cut fuel and labor costs. Here are some reactions.
lhsimage.com asked students and staff what they think about the potential change to mailing services.
“I don’t even get the newspaper.”
– Jerry Kaye, 10“I don’t personally feel affected by it.”
– Marissa Passi, 11“The weekend is when people do all their last minute things. It’s a bad idea.”
– Jordan Taylor, 12“It’s still some of the cheapest postal service in the world. I’m okay with it.”
– Michael Mertz, Study Hall teacher“It’s all done at the national level and takes an act of Congress. We’re as much in the dark as everyone else. They’re not closing any post offices on Saturday, and there will still be overnight express mail. They proposed this in August, too.”
