Weekly sports update Jan. 6-Jan. 12

Boys Basketball: The basketball team played Parkway West on Jan. 7 and won 57-52. They also played Kirkwood on Jan. 10 and won 49-44. Their current record now stands at 6-5, with senior Ryan Campbell leading the team with 134 points. The team will play next against Francis Howell on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.

Boys Wrestling: The wrestling team beat Seckman 44-29. All levels of wrestling beat Seckman, giving the Lancers a clean sweep against them for the first time ever. On Jan. 9, they beat Northwest Cedar Hill 39-27. The Lancers also finished third as a team in the Lafayette Fred Ross Invitational on Jan. 11. In their respective weight classes, Drew Doehring, Gabe Frankenberger, and Tommy Hagan won first, Evan Boren, Anthony McRoberts, and Henry Thomas won second.

Girls Basketball: The girls’ basketball team beat Parkway West 59-33 on Jan. 7. They also lost to Kirkwood 44-26 on Jan. 10. After the loss against Kirkwood, the team’s record is 3-9. They look to improve their record in their next game against the Parkway Central Colts on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.

Girls Swimming: The Lancers beat Lindbergh on Jan. 8, winning 126-57. Sophomore Dylan Moulton got an automatic state cut for the 200-meter freestyle and senior Claire Vanbiljon got an automatic state cut for the 50-meter freestyle.

Girls Wrestling: The Lancers beat the Seckman Tigers 32-24 on Jan. 8. However, a shorthanded team lost to Northwest 39-24 on Jan. 9. At the Fred Ross Invitational on Jan. 11, the team finished second overall out of 25 teams. In their respective weight classes, Faith Cole and Emma Cole finished in first, Josette Parney finished second, and Seraphina Blackmon and Dashiya Houston finished third.

Ice Hockey: On Jan. 1, the Lancers lost to the Marquette Mustangs 3-2. On Jan. 3, they beat Francis Howell 6-2, with Justin Sprague finishing the night with two goals scored and four points. On Jan. 4, the Lancers beat the Oakville Tigers 2-0. On Jan. 6, they lost to Kirkwood 2-1. They play next against De Smet at the Chesterfield Sports Complex at 7 p.m. on Jan. 13.
