Calcaterra issues statement regarding threat to student safety
On Feb. 26 2018, Principal Karen Calcaterra addressed a potential safety threat to the school in the following email:
Dear Lafayette School Community,
We always want to communicate with our parents when potential safety issues and concerns may arise. This morning, our school administration team was informed that a student brought some bullets to Lafayette High School.
The student was immediately questioned by our administrative team, St. Louis County Police and our superintendent. This investigation did result in the confiscation of the alleged bullets. We quickly established that no weapon had been brought to school and that our students were not in danger. Please know that school board policy and all appropriate laws that govern behavior at school will apply to this situation.
I’m proud of our Lafayette students for doing the right thing. They immediately shared this information with trusted adults who reacted quickly for the safety of all students. In addition, I am grateful for our partnership with our local law enforcement who serve our schools and community with dedication.
Please feel free to call me at (636) 733-4113 or email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dr. Karen Calcaterra
Principal
