Swim team strives for excellence this 2017 season
Lafayette High School’s boys swim team had their first meet of the season on August 26. They got ninth place with a collective score of 92 points.
Senior Matthew Reich has a few expectations for his final season on Lafayette’s team.
“I expect personal improvement from myself and hopefully everyone else on the team. Hopefully, we can reach our goals. We don’t have enough people, enough depth to win everything, but we’re going to try,” said Reich.
Reich has been on the swim team for four years and he has been on the varsity team for three of those years. The season has started off slow for Reich as the team tries to get their members up to speed on everything. Despite the tone set by the loss of the first, the team will try as hard as they can.
Although Reich is a talented swimmer, he does not plan to swim competitively in college. Rather, he plans to major in mathematics and hopes to get into medical school.
